I struggled long and hard with what I would rate a blog about if I was going to have one. I have made a final decision. I choose to write about this 21 cleanse I have embarked upon and the aftermath it will surely ensue.
Today is day one of the SP Cleanse. Its been an interesting day so far. No caffeine, no sugar of any kind, no meat, no dairy, no processed foods.
You may ask, "So what the heck can you have?"
A.)
Organic Veggies (only certain ones-- no peas, corn, beans-- you get the drift)
Organic Fruit
1/2 cup brown rice/ quinoa per day
1/2 cup lentils
Organic Butter
Green Tea
Organic herbs and spices
Your next question may be, "WHY?! Why are you doing this?"
A.) The simple, short & sweet answer: To get healthy.
Having kidney stones, becoming intolerant to gluten AND dairy -- these are not things I expected to go through at 25 years old. But I am, and so I want to change my diet and my lifestyle to prevent further intolerances or illnesses.
DAY 1: Today is just OK. It's for sure an adjustment.
Breakfast: Banana Berry Blast Smoothie
- Banana
- 1/2 cup Strawberries
- 1/2 cup blueberries
- 2 handfuls of spinach
- 1/4 cup Pure OJ
- Water
- 2 Heaping Scoops SP Complete
- 1 scoop whole fiber
All in all- the smoothie was not so bad. I followed it with a cup of green tea when I got to work.
The problem: I was hungry again about two hours later . . .
Snack: Steamed green beans
Lunch: Spring Mix Greens with cucumber, peppers & red onion. Dressing: Olive Oil & Red Wine Vinegar
- All in all, this was OK. I don't really like raw veggies. When I eat a salad, it's usually with nuts or peas or eadamame or black beans-- something to mask the veggies. I think this will be my biggest hurdle in this cleanse. I hope to come out of this like more veggies and being able to eat them raw.
Obviously I was still hungry . . .
Lunch Part II: 'Smoothie' (Just the SP complete, Fiber, Whole and about 1/2 pure pineapple juice).
Never again, this 'smoothie' is disgusting. Tomorrow I will bring fruits or at least ice to make this better. I am drinking dirt juice. That's what it tastes like, feels like and looks like.
I do feel better. I feel more alert-- less groggy at 1:31pm on a work day. We'll see how the rest of the day goes . . .
